ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Organizational development (OD) is an organizational strategy that uses behavioral science principles and practices to increase individual and organizational effectiveness. The field of OD offers a prescription for improving the goodness of "fit" between individuals and organizations and environments. The aim of OD and OT (organizational transformation) is to help individuals and organizations function better in today's increasingly interdependent, complex, and competitive world (French, et al, 2004). OD focuses on the human side of organizations--people, policies, procedures, processes, norms, cutlure, and organizational design.
OD is a prescription for a process of planned change in organizations in which key prescriptive elements relate to (French et al, 2004) :
1. the nature of the effort or program
2. the nature of the change actvities
3. the targets of the change acivities
4. the desired outcomes of the change activities
